5 Signs Your Auckland Deck Needs Replacing

Auckland's outdoor lifestyle means decks get hammered by sun, rain and heavy foot traffic year-round. Most homeowners don't think about their deck until something goes wrong — but by then, it can be a costly repair or a serious safety risk.

1. Soft or Spongy Timber

Press your foot firmly on the decking boards. If they flex more than they should, or feel soft underfoot, you likely have rot setting in. Soft spots are a sign that moisture has penetrated the timber and begun breaking down the wood fibres. Left untreated, this spreads fast.

2. Unstable or Wobbly Posts

Even well-maintained timber decks have a finite lifespan. If your deck is over 15 years old and hasn't had a full structural inspection, now is the time. A new deck doesn't just look better — it adds measurable value to your Auckland property.
